Program

Day 1

Arrival and transfer to Mazeri

Your guide will meet you at Tbilisi or Kutaisi airport. The transfer time to the mountain village of Mazeri (1,660 meters) is 8 hours from Tbilisi and 4.5 hours from Kutaisi.
Here, surrounded by alpine meadows, you will spend your first night in a guest house, enjoy a welcome dinner, and get acquainted with Georgian cuisine. You will also need to check your equipment and obtain permits for the climb.

Day 2

Transfer to the camp below the glacier

We begin with a transfer to the camp below the start of the Ushbinsky Glacier (2450 m). Along the way, you will enjoy a picturesque route through the dense Svan fir forest.
In addition, Mazeri offers a sweeping panorama of the mountains and a stunning view of one of Georgia's most beautiful and powerful waterfalls, Shdugra. On this day, we will spend the night in tents at the foot of the Ushbinsky Glacier.

Day 3

Climb to the Second Camp

Let’s climb even higher. You will cross the Ushba Glacier to the Gnezdo mountaineering camp (3,350 m). From here, you will have a fantastic view of the Ushba Icefall with its cracks glistening in the sun and huge ice blocks. The wall of Mount Ushba will also become much closer.

Day 4

Climb to the Advanced Base Camp (ABC)

The task is to bypass the Ushbinsky icefall and reach the Ushbinsky Plateau (4,100 m). Here we stop for the night at the assault camp and admire the views of the peaks of Elbrus and Shkhela, and the wall of the beautiful Ushba.

Day 5

Acclimatization and marking the way

We will not change the location of the camp – we will stay in tents on the ridge for the night. But during the day, we will make an acclimatization outing to the “pillow” where we will conduct training with mountaineering equipment. We will also prepare the lower part of our main route.

Day 6

Rest and preparations

We rest after the significant physical exertion of the previous days and prepare for the upcoming ascent of Ushba.

Day 7

Summit Day: Ascent of Ushba North

The day of climbing to the summit of Ushba North (4690 m) along a route of category “D+” difficulty. Over the course of 8-9 hours, you will have to overcome several ice ropes, pass a sharp ridge with many “gendarmes” and appreciate the colossal power of this mountain.
The reward is the sharp peak of the Queen of the Caucasus, the legendary Ushba!

Day 8

Descent to the First Camp

A long descent either to the camp at the foot of the Ushbinsky Glacier or to the village of Mazeri itself, depending on the physical fitness of the group, weather, and other conditions.

Day 9

Descent to Mestia

We descend to Mazeri or wake up there and leave for Mestia (1,500 m), a village in Upper Svaneti.
Here, it is worth seeing the Svan towers, which were built by people who inhabited these places 2,000 years ago. Or visit the ethnographic museum and the museum of the legendary mountaineer Mikhail Khergiani.
And here, in the hospitable atmosphere of the Caucasus Mountains, we will have a festive dinner in honor of the new conquerors of Ushba!

Days 10-11

Reserve days

They are intended as backups in case of bad weather or route adjustments.

Day 12

Transfer to the city

This unforgettable mountain trip will end with a trip to the resort cities of Tbilisi or Kutaisi. Departure the next day.
